Wai Horotiu Queen Street Project
Regeneration
Wai Horotiu Queen Street Project
Regeneration
The Auckland City Centre Masterplan (CCMP) presents a vision for Wai Horotiu Valley, as a vibrant shopping and commercial area, prioritising pedestrians and public transport.
As part of this vision, the Wai Horotiu Queen Street Project is working towards transforming Queen Street to become more accessible, more attractive, and more prosperous, with better connections to the rest of the City Centre. This project aims to enhance the street environment by providing significantly more space for pedestrians, cyclists, and other wheeled users. It will deliver incremental changes to the street, by making network changes to remove unnecessary end-to-end through traffic.
This project used a co-design process to seek feedback from the community to inform the design. Stellar Projects worked with Auckland Council and Auckland Transport, facilitating the co-design, engagement, and evaluation process that has seen businesses, residents, property owners, and users help shape changes to Queen Street. We are also proud to have worked alongside Auckland Transport and LandLab during the design phases.
During the lifecycle of this project, we have also been providing monitoring, evaluation, and analysis services to offer key insights, as the project progresses. We continue to provide ongoing stakeholder engagement and relationship management, alongside contractors JFC, during the construction delivery phase.

New Water Supply
Kaitāia Water Project
New Water Supply
Jubilation in Kaitāia on Monday 20th June 2022 as the Kaitāia Water Project was officially blessed, marking the completion of the project which has the potential to supply up to 5,000 cubic metres of extra water per day to the region.
Stellar Projects managed this key infrastructure project on behalf of Far North District Council, with valued input from Ngāi Takoto, Te Rarawa and Ngāti Kahu. The project involved the installation of two bores at Sweetwater, with an extensive 14km pipeline transporting water from Sweetwater to the water treatment plant in Okahu Road. This new supply will provide Kaitāia’s water in future, allowing for growth in the region and less disruption from droughts.

Elliot to Freelance
Pathway and boardwalk
As part of the greater Auckland Cycleway network Stellar Projects was engaged to investigate route options through the section of esplanade reserve and streetscape between SH1 at Pescara Point and Elliot Street running along the water’s edge of the Pahurehure inlet. The scope of works included design, planning, engineering and community consultation to ensure the best outcome was achieved. Multiple on-land and boardwalk options were investigated with the final design incorporating a concrete walkway through the wider sections of esplanade reserve and a boardwalk where the esplanade reserve reduced to ensure privacy and security for adjacent land owners. The project was completed to a detail design stage and put on hold until funding becomes available.
