Our procurement team has worked closely with Watercare to ensure timely delivery of the Central Interceptor’s main construction contract. The Central Interceptor is a super-sized tunnel that will reduce wastewater overflows into central Auckland waterways.
With construction having started at Mangere and May Road sites in August 2019, the $1.2b Central Interceptor is one of New Zealand’s most ambitious tunnelling projects. Constructed at depths of up to 110m, the tunnel will run 13km between Western Springs and the Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant.
