Dedicated to New Zealand’s Vision Zero and committed to reducing deaths and serious injuries on our roads.
The Stellar Projects Road Safety Team specialises in road safety solutions for all road users. We are dedicated to New Zealand’s Vision Zero and are committed to reducing deaths and serious injuries on our roads.
Our road safety team employs Safe System principles in all our projects. The safe system approach recognises that people make mistakes and are vulnerable in a crash. However our projects and designs guided by the safe system principles aim to reduce the harm caused in a crash.
We specialise in road safety and transportation services throughout the lifecycle of a project from investigation and design through to construction.

Our recent projects

Roadside Safety Barriers
Road Safety
Roadside Safety Barriers
Road Safety
Up to 70% of DSI crashes are linked to run off road and head on crashes. Our team trains engineers NZ wide, and also undertakes designs for road safety barrier systems, a proven safety intervention on high-speed roads.
We have worked on the investigation and design of road safety barrier systems on local roads and state highways including roadside barriers and flexible median barriers. Recent projects have included sites on Dairy Flat Highway as well as numerous sites to enable the rollout of speed camera installations around Auckland.

Safety around Schools

Safety around Schools
Road Safety
Our team has over 10 years’ experience of working on projects that improve safety around schools. Most recently we were involved in the design of changes around Dairy Flat School that included parking, new footpaths and speed threshold treatments which helped to improve safety for the school which is located on a high speed rural road.

Vulnerable Road User Safety
Facilities
Vulnerable Road User Safety
Road Safety
Our road safety team has worked annually on vulnerable road user safety programmes delivering numerous road safety initiatives, providing safe facilities around schools (School Travel Planning projects) and other areas where young or less able pedestrians need safe facilities.
This includes numerous raised pedestrian crossings throughout the Auckland Region for Auckland Transport. The raised crossings improve safety for vulnerable road users and encourage active modes of transport.

High Speed Rural Road studies
Rural Arterials
High Speed Rural Road studies
Road Safety
Our safety team understands that a high percentage of Death and Serious Injury (DSI) crashes occur on high-speed rural roads. Our team undertakes High Risk Rural Road studies to identify options for reducing harm.
Our experience includes crash reduction studies to identify crash trends and suitable treatments as well as the design of safety treatments. Safety treatment examples include road safety barriers, road marking and signage improvements, intersection treatments and road geometry improvements.

Multimodal Design
Urban corridors Road Safety
Road Safety
Our safety team understands that in the urban environment multiple road users share the road space, and there is potential for injury of vulnerable road users (cyclists, pedestrians, school children and the less able members of our community). Our Safety team been involved in multimodal design, balancing the needs of commuter traffic Public Transport services, cycle lanes and safe pedestrian footpaths and crossings. Our team supports designs that cater for all road users, to share the road space in the safest way, and encourages active modes of transport.
